Our Story

After spending decades working in restaurants, retail, and the service industry, Ben and I faced a unique opportunity. We had the wonderful challenge to cook for our son who struggled with food every day due to a congenital heart defect and allergic disorder. Even as a toddler, he craved salty, spicy, flavorful food - so naturally barbecue became his fast friend. As a family we fell in love with barbecue and I quickly went to work to bring bold, fun flavors to the table where I could feel confident about the quality of ingredients.

After years of finding the joy in making food for our family, we couldn't douse the spark that led us to create off kilter bbq. We want you to have as much fun cooking barbecue as we do, and enjoy making memories with your family and friends over a tableful of food worth getting sticky fingers for.

Thanks for joining us on this adventure. - Amy

Our Donation Promise

Congenital heart defects (CHDs) are the most common birth defect, with many individuals requiring lifelong medical care. Our son, Dominic, was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, a rare defect in which the left side of his heart never developed. He struggled to thrive for years after his birth, but has worked hard to overcome many obstacles. At two, he was diagnosed with eosinophilic esophagitis - a rare allergic condition affecting the esophagus. Our son’s health has influenced our outlook on life and our family’s relationship with food.

Because of this, we are committed to supporting the research and community that saved him. At the moment, for every shirt or hat sold, we will donate $1 to HeartWorks. We continue to look for ways to give back to the pediatric heart and GI communities. If you would like to share a specific idea on how to support them, please contact us!
